World Building is incredible, it is embedded, to a lesser or greater extent, into every story we have ever heard or ever told. Whether the entire world is like our own except for the characters or it is an entirely new world from your own mind. In crafting our stories, we get the chance to become like gods. What does that make me? The devil in the details? That, I think, is a good description of what I’m trying to achieve here. 

The aim is to talk about world building from every kind of angle I can think of. To talk about it in general as well as to take specific examples from across media and to look at how they work, how well they work, and why they do or don't work well. There are a bunch of great people out there doing great things in this area, what I’m trying to do is to put out the kind of stuff that I haven’t seen yet but want to talk about.

My name is Conor O'Shea, and you might now be asking yourself: "what are my credentials?" I would have to say that my main credential is enthusiasm. I’m a philosopher by training which means that I am annoyingly focused on details and making sure that things are logically consistent and coherent. I have watched and rated over 1,300 different movies and have spent cumulatively over a year of my life watching hundreds of different TV shows. So, at the very least I’ve had a lot of exposure.
